Provenance From the estate of Gitta Bauer (*1919 in Berlin; †1990), awarded the honorary title of "Righteous Among the Nations". In the collection of the Museum of Modern Art there is a photograph showing Gitta Bauer with the sculpture Rufus in the background.

From March 1 to June 28, 2020, early works by Valerie Maynard were exhibited at "The Baltimore Museum of Art", including an embodiment of the sculpture "Rufus".
